Michael opened his mission call last night. I obviously wasn't there in person, but on the speaker phone. I am so proud of this boy. Ok, because he is my brother I have bragging rights, right? Ever since he turned 16 and started working he has been saving for his mission. He graduated school a semester early so he could work more hours and he did it. He saved all his money for his mission, every last dime. So this just gives you a little inside as to how amazing this boy is.
Last night as friends and family were gathered everyone made their guess as to where they thought he would go. One guess for out of the country and one guess state-side. He opens the envelope and starts reading every last number and dot, then reads that he is called to the Kingston, Jamaca mission and is to report Nov. 25. After everyone was done cheering, he said, "JUST KIDDING". He and Jeremy the night before pulled out Jeremy's old mission letter and copied it word for word, minus the Jamaca part because Jeremy served in Kentucky. They even copied and pasted Thomas S. Monson's signature somehow. Just before everyone got there he slit the envelope open and stuck the letter in before anyone could see. Of course with Jeremy involved you know there is going to be mischief going on.
So then he pulled out the real letter and has been called to the California, Longbeach Spanish speaking mission and is to report Dec. 9 to the MTC. Michael has always had a strong testimony of the gospel and will be a wonderful missionary. He is such a good example to me and has a strong, loving devotion of his Savior, Jesus Christ.
