I am so proud of my husband I just want to shout it out to the world. Let me give you some background... Josh, through elementary, middle school, and junior high was in special ed classes because he couldn't read. He was always sent to detention, suspended once, and getting in trouble. In high school he was finally pulled out of special ed because with the help of his mother he began to perform well. They spent so many late nights working on homework as she would read to him and write his papers as he told her what to write. At 13 he would get done with an unproductive day at school, go to work, work until dinner, after dinner and completely exhausted, they would stay up until sometimes 1:00 a.m. doing homework. Josh and his mom became so close through this trial and I know she would also be so proud of him too.
Finally as a senior in high school, he had an english teacher who did something about this and said he needed to be tested. He was tested and diagnosed with dyslexia. It came as such a relief to him, knowing that there was a reason for everything. So to make this all a little more brief...HE DIDN'T LEARN TO READ UNTIL HE WAS A SENIOR IN HIGH SCHOOL. After he graduated high school he worked for a few months then left for a mission in Houston, Texas for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for two years. A couple months before he came home he applied for BYU-Idaho never before dreaming he would go to college seeing how he had never read anything before his mission. When we met and married he was getting his Associates in Welding Engineering. This was a huge accomplishment for him. He worked for 2 years and realized what it was he loved to do and what he wanted to do. To accomplish this goal he needed more schooling and decided to go back to school to get his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. This was huge for him. He went year around for 2 years and just graduated. Not only did he just graduate but he graduated Cum Laude (top 10% of all the students that graduated Dec 2010). Mechanical Engineering is one of the hardest degrees BYU-I offers. The Mechanical Engineer department has a 76% drop out rate and he grated cum laude! Thank you for letting be brag about my husband for a minute. Here are some pictures of one of the happiest days of our lives.
Josh and His dad.
Under that cap is a bald head to show his hard work. It has fallen out so fast the last 2 years. It is so sexy!
Benson and Grant are so happy they will get to see their dad more. No more late nights, all nighters, early mornings, weekends in Rexburg. Yay!
I believe these are all of the Mechanical Engineers Josh has worked with the last couple years. The first row are the Professors in the Mechanical Engineering Department. Most of these students are graduating with families... small children...some of them had very demanding jobs...demanding callings all while going to school, but they made it. We have been blessed so much. The Lord really has taken care of us and I am so happy.
