Porter is now 2 1/2 months old. He is such a good baby and I never get tired of just looking at him. Could you? Look at that cute little face. We had Porter's blessing on the 4th of July. It was so fun to have my family here for that special occasion; it was one of those that makes me so grateful to be an eternal family. I can't imagine living without them.
I made his blessing outfit, just like I did with Besons' and Grants' out of my wedding dress. I figure I don't have any other need for my dress and so I want all my children to at least have a piece of it on their blessing outfits. I thought it turned out cute. They definitely are not as fun as making little girl blessing dresses, but they are special non-the-less. They say your youngest stays a baby longer. I have found this to be so true. I don't want him to grow up. With Benson, the "next step" is always so exciting, but now I want Porter to stay just the way he is.
Most nights he is sleeping until 5:00 a.m. He can sit in a Bumbo for about 10 min before his head starts to get heavy. His little smile and laugh are so cute. We just love him to pieces.
GRANT'S MUG SHOT
Grant is by far my wild child. It's a good thing he is so stinkin' cute, it's hard to stay mad at him for so long.
He just turned 2 years old May 31 and is the definition of the terrible twos. He has got the sweetest little voice and articulates his words so precisely and slow, it is fun just listening to him talk. And let me tell you he can sure talk, "I'm gonna tell my dad when he gets home," "Benson's not being nice," "What you have?" And he can't say his F's so everything is pornounced with a B, bone (phone), brute (fruit), bun (fun)...you get the idea. He and Benson are best friends and for the most part they play pretty well together. I am glad they have each other.
BENSON'S MUG SHOT
Benson just turned 4 years old June 22. He is so smart and loves to talk. I think he talks cause he likes to hear himself talk. His latest topic of conversation is that he had a birthday and turned four and that he got his kindergarten shots and didn't even cry. He is a pretty tough kid. Any time he gets hurt or gets an owey (I've forgotten the grown up word for that) he doesn't want me to look at it or touch it. He just says, in his whimpering voice, "I'll be ok mom."
This last week I gave him his first piano lesson. Maybe it's too early but we'll see how it goes. He was so excited and has practiced every day. This week he just learned about the sets of 2 black keys and the sets of 3 black keys (big house and little house).
Grant's favorite book is "Bad Dog Marley" and Benson can recite the entire book word for word. It's like a 25 page children's book. So I can say, Benson go read to Grant and it's perfect. He used to be able to recite some other books, but it's been a while since we've read them, he's probably forgotten alot.
This September he will be starting Preschool, that's another conversation topic. He is so excited. I can't believe how much he has grown up. He is such a good boy and trys so hard to do what is right... Which reminds me of another story I think I will share...
So one evening the boys are ready for bed and I help Grant say his prayers then it's Benson's turn and of course he can do it by himself. HE SAYS A 15 MIN PRAYER! I am not even exagerating. I mean after 3 mins. I start to get a little impatient and cue him to end, but no, he keeps on going. Another 2 mins and I cue him again and again and finally realize I am not helping. Every body part, every book, toy, friend, family member, his bed... I don't think he left anything out. Of course by the time he is done I realize the lesson that, once again, he has taught me.
