A few weeks after my mom left, my dad came up for a visit and brought my sister Wendy and her family from SLC. We took them camping and fishing. The last time her husband had been camping was 20 years ago and it was 30 for Wendy. They did pretty good for roughing it...the toilet made of a tree branch, hardly any sleep with a hard flat ground, and coyotes howling in the distance before we went to bed. When we first got to our camping spot the first priority was setting up the fire so we could start cooking our dinner (dutch oven bbq chicken). The kids started to gather rocks and Josh lit some wood. All of a sudden a gust of wind came and within 10 sec, the fire was out of control. I started to panic as Josh was walking around the edges trying to stomp it out. I tossed him our little picnic table to cover more surface area, then Ryan (my bro. in law) showed up with a fire extinguisher. We put it out just before it hit the sage brush but my adrenaline was racing for a while after. Josh eyebrows and eyelashes got singed on the tips, but he didn't get burned thankfully. So scary!

Benson and Grant brought their bows and arrows. This is a picture of Benson and his cousin Colby shooting the arrow. They were well entertained with this activity.
We did lots of shooting.

One of my memories of camping when I was little was that it was the only time we could have gum and we loved it. So I got each of the kids a pack of gum and it was gone in an hour. This is Grant finishing off his last piece.
