Labor Day weekend and some other random thoughts

Labor Day weekend we went camping in Palisades at Indian Creek. It was so beautiful and relaxing; I wish we could've stayed longer. Dan made a bow and arrow out of some sticks. This is Benson trying it out and sporting his shirt that he decorated. It is the perfect camping shirt, and it DRIVES ME CRAZY. I just don't have the heart to make it disappear because he takes such great pride in it.
Grant being inconspicuous around the the food. For him the best part about camping is all the great food. He just couldn't keep his hands out of it.
At 16 months Porter is finally walking which made camping a little more enjoyable for him and me, since I didn't have to carry him everywhere. He did pretty good on the rough terrain.
Porter and Hannah with Grandpa Versey. He was hooking them up with the red vines.
This was the first time Grandpa Versey took out his fishing boat and it was a blast. We spent some time down by the reservoir playing in the water.
Grandpa Versey also brought his kayaks. Benson and Josh on one and Jacob on the other.
 Grant and myself.
They were so well balanced and easy to maneuver that Benson even tried it out by himself. He did great!
Grant, just hanging out by the food again. They were all great little campers.

Josh is busy with classes again. He is getting balder and balder with each semester, but I am thinking we will get his heart checked, because I heard that can be a big cause for hair loss. We definitely need to have dates more often because I feel like I hardly see him.

Week 3 of homeschooling is going much smoother. I am still trying to rack my brain for an activity for Grant and Porter to do that will keep them happy, occupied, and with little supervision needed for 1 hour. If you have any ideas let me know. I am amazed with some of the curriculum. In history, Benson and Grant have both learned all the continents, thanks to a nifty little song that is actually to the tune of a girls camp favorite (The cutest boy I ever saw was sippin' cider through a straw.). At first I was certain that this was not age/grade appropriate. I don't remember what grade I learned all the continents but it definitely was not kindergarten. Is that normal? I am surprised with what he is capable of - and this is one of the reason I enjoy it.

Grant woke up this morning and I noticed he was wearing different pajama bottoms. I asked him if he peed in his pants last night. He said yes. I asked where and he didn't respond so, I started sniffing and feeling his bed but I could not find a wet spot. I asked him again, "Grant where did you pee?" Sometimes he'll make it into the bathroom, just not in the toilet. I was so confused. Finally he said, "I'll show you." He walked into MY bedroom and lifted up MY sheet and pointed on MY bed. Sure enough there was a wet spot! I remember waking up in the middle of the night and he was laying next to me, then waking up a little bit later and he was gone. Now I know why. Usually when he wakes up in the middle of the night, everybody knows it. He wails and screams, and cries. He didn't even make a sound, probably afraid I would be upset. I couldn't be. I thought it was hilarious! Then I took a shower.

Porter is finally walking; almost running now. He is very good at letting us know what he wants. Last week we moved all the boys into the same room so we could use the other room upstairs as the toy/school room. So far is been ok. I am still hoping it will get better, but the boys really like it. I think Porter loves it, just not being all by himself anymore. He is into everything and I almost think this stage is harder than "the terrible two's" because they can't use their words and they are still so innocent you can't be mad at them. He loves putting things in the toilet, eating out of the garbage can, and standing on the table but, I love him to death. He makes me happy and love's to snuggle. It's just a good thing he's not a dog or he would be for sale.
